You may be aware that the Palestinians are currently seeking a vote in the UN that will grant them statehood. This is incredibly dangerous to the state of Israel. Israel is the only true democracy in the Middle East, and America’s close ally. And, most important of all, we as Christians are called to stand with, and love, the Jewish people.

Verses in the Old and New Testaments that describe God’s love for Israel… )

These, and many other verses, describe God’s love for the Jewish people. We, as Gentiles, have been unspeakably blessed through God’s chosen people. But, the Jews themselves have been horribly persecuted throughout history, and currently, the nations of the world are turning a blind eye, or in some cases, allying with, extremist Muslim regimes who blatantly call for the annihilation of the Jewish people. The vote in the UN puts Israel at incredible risk. When Hitler began persecuting Jews in Germany, many Christians around the world were silent. Let’s not be silent now.

If you’d like to speak out on behalf of Israel here on LJ, small as our voices may be, you’re welcome to copy and use this banner.

In the words of the psalmist, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.” For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.” -Psalm 122:5-7

Hi, everyone. I'm sure that like me you've been watching the coverage of the devastation in Japan. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who's been touched by the disaster there. You may have already heard about this, but there's a fandom auction for charity at the LJ comm [livejournal.com profile] help_japan. If you'd like to bid or offer up a fic, please check it out.

There's already a very large number of posts at the comm, so to make things a bit easier to search through, I'd be happy to make a list of [livejournal.com profile] christianfanfic authors who are involved, with links to their offers. If you're already involved, or decide to sign up, please post a comment on this entry with a link to your post in the auction. The auction runs from now to the 28th of March.

And, if you're interested, I just put up my own offer of a one-shot: here. More details about the offer are included with the post.

This is just a quick reminder that I’ll start posting prompts this Sunday, January 9th. :)

Prompts will be posted once a week. There will be three word prompts and one Bible verse prompt. There will be no word limit, no limit on the number of entries per author, and no deadline for submission unless otherwise specified. You can use the prompts for any fandom.

If you’d like to suggest a word prompt or a Bible verse prompt for future use, please PM me.

If you have any questions, you can leave a comment on this post.

Take care and God bless everyone! I hope your new year is off to a great start! :)

Hi everyone. :) It is I, your lurking mod, lol. I say lurking because I haven't been totally absent, really! Just incredibly busy. I know I've been woefully derelict in my duties, though, and I really apologize! But, with the new year coming, I'm making a resolution to try to post more regularly. And, another change will be coming with the new year too. [livejournal.com profile] a1cmustangpilot suggested posting weekly prompts to hopefully inspire some of you fantastic writers our there. :)

I think it's a great idea!

The prompts will be posted on Sunday each week, and there will be no time limit on responses, unless otherwise stated. There will be three word prompts, and one Bible verse prompt. You can use one, or all of them, it's entirely up to you. If you use the Bible verse prompt, the verse itself does not have to appear in the fic. Instead, the story can simply be inspired by it. Your response can be for any fandom, including original stories and poetry.

The prompts will start Sunday, January 9, 2011.

I'm hoping to get an idea of how many people plan to participate, so please take a minute to respond to this poll:

[Poll #1662464]

Lastly, even if it's a bit late, I want to extend a very warm welcome to our new members and new authors! :) I hope you'll check out their stories, and of course, don't forget to review!

Take care and God bless, everyone, and Happy New Year! May God give you His peace all year long.

Help Haiti

Jan. 17th, 2010 09:30 pm
[identity profile] laughtersmelody.livejournal.com
I wish I'd known about this a few days earlier, but I thought it was worth posting anyway.

Have you wished that you could do something to help the people suffering from the devastation in Haiti?

There's a fantastic community called [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti. It's a fandom auction to raise money to help Haiti recover. There is already a flood of posts, but the more people who give, the better. :)

In the "Offering of Words," section, fan fic writers of all kinds and beta readers offer their talents up for auction. The highest bidder wins the item offered, whether it be a fic or beta reading services, and the winner then donates their bid to one of the charities listed on the community. There are also threads where people have offered their skills at art, vids, podcasts, foods, toys, jewelry, clothing and more.

You can bid up until noon (Eastern Standard Time) on January 20, 2010; new items can be added until 6:00 AM (EST) on January 20, 2010.

If you'd like to offer something to bid on, or make a bid on something yourself, please check it out.

(I added my name to the list of authors offering fics. If you're interested in bidding, there is a link to my offer up on my journal.)

Hello, your friendly maintainer here again. :)

I realize the community updates have been rather few and far between, but life has been very busy the last few months. Praise the Lord though, I finally had the time to give this community (and its wonderful users) the attention they deserve. :) Speaking of which, lol, there's a lot to update you on so please bear with me.

Please see updates under cut... )

Hello everyone, it's me, your friendly neighborhood maintainer, lol. :)

I just wanted to let you know that I have changed things around some. You might notice the look has improved again, and I reorganized the tags. Please check the Community Info to read about the new system and the updated rules. :)

I also finally have started posting more of my fics, (I know it took me long enough *blush*) and with Shay's( now[livejournal.com profile] eternalsuns )  kind contributions, you will now have stories to choose from. :)

This community is growing, slowly yes, lol, but praise the Lord, it is growing. :)

A very warm welcome to [livejournal.com profile] eternalsuns, (I know I already welcomed you, but you were the first member besides me, so you deserve to be recognized officially *hugs* :) )[livejournal.com profile] muddhp, and [livejournal.com profile] shygyrl70.

Take care and God bless! :)

I don't know if anyone besides me actually saw this before, lol, but if you did, you may have noticed that the look has improved somewhat, lol. :)

I'm still very new to live journal, and so far, it has still been taking me three or four tries, and a lot of experimenting, to actually figure out what I am doing, but that's better than being totally lost, lol.

If you're reading this, I know the selection of stories and catagories is still very small, (yes, that's a bit of an understatement at the moment ;) ) but Lord willing, I'll be able to get my stories up soon, and if others add their's as well, then who knows, maybe someone out there will read them, and be touched by them in some way.  If just one person can come to know the Lord because of this, then I think it's worth it. :)

I'm not really sure how big this community is going to get, whether I'll be the only one posting or if others will be inspired to post as well, but I wanted to use this first post to dedicate this community to the Lord.  Really it belongs to Him, I'm just the manual labor. :)

God is the beginning and the end of every story, and I'll just have to wait and see how He writes this one. :)
