According to the ACLJ, Pastor Hassan received a 12-year prison sentence. He has 15 days to appeal his conviction.

Please continue to keep him in your prayers, and if you haven't already, and you want to sign the petition for his release, you can do so here.

In Sudan, two Christian pastors were arrested under false charges. According to the ACLJ's website:

"In Sudan, there is a deadly crackdown on Christians. Two Christian pastors – Rev. Hassan Abduraheem and Rev. Kuwa Shamal – were arrested and imprisoned by Sudan’s Islamist Security Services on trumped-up national security charges because of their Christian faith. Pastor Kuwa has now been freed, but Pastor Hassan still faces a possible death sentence for his Christian faith. Join us as we mobilize our global offices to demand his immediate release."

The judge is supposed to issue his verdict for Pastor Hassan this weekend. If you want to sign the petition for his release, you can do so here.

It takes only a minute. Please also keep them and the ACLJ in prayer.

Earlier today, Pastor Saaed Abendini was released from Iran after over three years in prison. He, along with three other Americans, are now in a safe zone waiting to be flown to Europe.

This is such a wonderful answer to prayer!!!!!!!!! Praise God!!!!!

Please do continue to keep Pastor Saeed and his family in prayer, however, because it will be a long road to recovery.

The ACLJ just sent out this letter: "This week, Iranian intelligence officers interrogated American Pastor Saeed Abedini.

They repeatedly used a taser gun on Pastor Saeed as they threatened him with additional time in Iran’s most deadly prison.

Pastor Saeed needs two surgeries while Iran denies him the medical care he so badly needs. And now they shock him repeatedly.

The interrogators abused him and threatened him with new bogus charges based on more lies. Pastor Saeed again denied all of these allegations.

As Naghmeh Abedini, [Pastor Saeed's wife] says, “When will this nightmare end?”"

This is the week that Iranian President Rouhani prepares to address the United Nations in New York City, and the ACLJ is "urging global leaders from nations around the world to increase the pressure to free this U.S. citizen."

If you haven't signed the petition for Pastor Saeed yet, please do so here, and please keep him and his family in prayer.

Pastor Saeed is still suffering in the worst prison in Iran, and the Iranian guards recently targeted him with another raid on his prison cell. The nuclear deal with Iran offered no aid to Saeed and the other Americans being held prisoner there.

The ACLJ has begun a new letter campaign, in which the letters will be presented to the U.N. Secretary General, urging him to pressure Iran for Pastor Saeed's freedom. But, they only have four days to collect the letters.

They have a pre-done letter format that you can sign (it only takes a few seconds) or if you want to, you can write your own letter as well.

Just click here.

Last week, two Sudanese pastors, Michael and Peter, who were facing a possible death sentence were freed. Now, sadly, both they and their families are being banned from leaving Sudan by Sudan's National Intelligence and Security Service, the same group that brought the false charges in the first place. The pastors and their families are still in danger while they're in the country, and the ACLJ is once again working on their behalf.

If you want to sign a petition for their release, you can do so here.

And please do continue to keep them in your prayers.

Praise the Lord, Sudanese Pastors, Michael and Peter, who were facing a possible death sentence, have now been freed! :) God is so good!

I believe I've posted about her before, but a Christian woman and mother of five, Asia Bibi, was sentenced to death in Pakistan for offering a sip of water to a Muslim co-worker.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan just temporarily suspended her death sentence while it hears her appeal.

The ACLJ is gathering signatures for a petition on her behalf. They want to deliver it to Pakistan before the hearing takes place. If you would like to sign the petition, you can do so here: here.

Please also keep her and her family in prayer.

The two Sudanese pastors I mentioned a few weeks ago have been officially charged with crimes punishable by death, though no evidence of their "crimes" has been presented at their trial. They are being held in terrible conditions, and being denied access to their attorney.

Their trial will resume in days, and the ACLJ is starting a massive letter-writing campaign to the new Sudanese Minister of Justice.

They need all the signatures they can get. If you'd like to sign the letter, you can do so here.

It takes only a minute. Please also keep them and the ACLJ in prayer.

Two Christian Pastors in Sudan are facing death because of their faith. They have just been moved to a high-security prison, where conditions are worse and no visitors are allowed. This could be a sign that execution will follow shortly. Their names are Yat Michael Ruot and Peter Yein Reith.

The ACLJ is working on their behalf and currently gathering signatures on a petition for their release. They are hoping to gather 15,000 more signatures today.

Signing is easy and only takes a few moments.

If you'd like to sign the petition, you can do so here.

Plase keep them in your prayers as well.

The Voice of the Martyrs is currently working to help the Christians who have been forced to flee ISIS in Iraq. To do this, VOM has created a special T-shirt using the Arabic letter “n” that the homes of Christians are being marked with in Northern Iraq (the “n” stands for Nazarene). The t-shirts are $20, and $10 dollars goes directly to help Iraqi Christians.

Or, if you prefer, you can simply leave a donation for them, without purchasing the t-shirt.

If you’re interested, you can find the page here.

The ACLJ is currently running a petition to let the American government know that we need to defend the Christians in Iraq, who are suffering horrifying atrocities at the hands of ISIS. You can sign the petition here.

ISIS has also threatened Pastor Saeed who is still imprisoned in Iraq. They have promised to have their imprisoned agents kill him if he leaves his cell. Please keep him and all the other Iraqi Christians in your prayers. They need them desperately.

Praise report! In case you haven't heard, Meriam Ibrahim, who was imprisoned in Sudan for being a Christian, and her family are safe in the US at long last.
There are still many other persecuted Christians who need our prayers, and Meriam and her family will need prayer as they start over here in the States, but God's been so good to deliver them this far. :)
[identity profile] laughtersmelody.livejournal.com
Merriam Ibrahim was freed, and then just as she was leaving the country, she and her family were re-arrested, this time by Sudan’s secret police. They were once again released and have taken shelter in the U.S. Embassy. But, they are currently not being allowed to leave Sudan, and new charges may be filed against them.

The ACLJ has started another peition to bring Meriam and her family home. You can sign it here.

And, if you’d like to read more about her current situation, there is an article here.

I try not to flood the comm with things like this, because there are always so many worthy causes and so many things to pray about, but this one seemed like another good one to share.

Some consider North Korea “The most Christian-Hostile Nation in Human History” (Rev. Eric Foley, These are the Generations). Personal accounts by North Korean Christians support this, and their stories are harrowing. The Voice of the Martyrs is currently running a campaign, writing letters of confession to North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un.

If you’re interested, you can sign a letter electronically here.

It’s easy to do, and doesn’t take long.

Hi, everyone.

I have mentioned Pastor Saeed Abedini a few times now. He has now been in an Iranian Prison for 493 days. But, in the words of the ACLJ, (The American Center for Law and Justice, a non-profit, Christian legal organization) "...there is a glimmer of hope. Iran has indicated that clemency – release – could be a possibility for Pastor Saeed."

The ACLJ is currently working on a petition to demand that Iran grant this clemency to Pastor Saeed. If you'd like to sign the petition, or to learn more about Pastor Saeed, you can go here.

And of course, please keep him in your prayers, as well as all the persecuted Christians around the world.

Hi, everyone.

You might remember an earlier post I had up in support of Pastor Saeed Abedini, who is currently in prison in Iran for his faith in Christ. It has now been almost a year since he was first sentenced, and he is still suffering.

However, Iran now has a new president, one who claims to be more moderate. The ACLJ (The American Center for Law and Justice, a non-profit, Christian legal organization) is beginning a campaign to send President Hassan Rouhani 1,000 letters a week, pleading for Pastor Saeed's release.

If you'd like to help, you can write a letter here.

It's incredibly easy - they have a form letter you can use, and it only takes a few minutes at most. More info about Paster Saeed and the ACLJ can be found on the website as well. Please keep him and his family, and this effort, in your prayers.

Also, you've probably heard about the devastating floods in Colorado. I live in Colorado myself, close to the flooded counties, though my hometown has been mercifully spared the worst so far. Please pray for the state and all the families suffering right now. And, if you can, please donate to the relief efforts through a reputable charity. It's going to be a very long recovery.

In an effort to support Japan and Haiti, I'm going to be attempting a drabble/ficlet marathon. I started a project called The Living Pokedex, which the first ficlet of can be found here. The goal is to write one fic inspired by each Pokemon in some way, be them an anime character, manga, games, or inspired by their Pokedex entries or whatever.

So, for every dollar donated via the fundraiser page at Global Giving, I will write one of these ficlets ASAP after the donation is received until I have written one for every Pokemon. Together, we can help the relief efforts around the world!

Please tell your friends!

Thank you!

Hi, everyone. I'm sure that like me you've been watching the coverage of the devastation in Japan. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who's been touched by the disaster there. You may have already heard about this, but there's a fandom auction for charity at the LJ comm [livejournal.com profile] help_japan. If you'd like to bid or offer up a fic, please check it out.

There's already a very large number of posts at the comm, so to make things a bit easier to search through, I'd be happy to make a list of [livejournal.com profile] christianfanfic authors who are involved, with links to their offers. If you're already involved, or decide to sign up, please post a comment on this entry with a link to your post in the auction. The auction runs from now to the 28th of March.

And, if you're interested, I just put up my own offer of a one-shot: here. More details about the offer are included with the post.
